Design inspiration

Vanity Case is one of the youngest members of the CHANEL bag family. It made its debut at the 2017 Spring/Summer show. In line with the season’s “Airport” theme, the cosmetic bags in the hands of the models were like miniature suitcases, chic and stylish.

The bag is inspired by the retro makeup cases from the 1950s . Similar suitcases have appeared in the airport looks of actresses such as Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. Hepburn used a rattan woven style back then, which still looks very fashionable today.

· Rattan & Calfskin ·

This rattan woven Vanity Case is from the CHANEL 2019 Spring/Summer collection. It is themed on beach vacation and is very cool and refreshing from the material to the color.

The main body of the bag is woven with rattan , using a warp and weft interlacing technique. The closer to the edge, the denser the rattan is. The horizontal intervals are interlaced with primary rattan and light gold calfskin-covered rattan, which is exquisite and high-end in texture.

Both the front and back of the box are inlaid with hard frames and calfskin edging, making the bag look stiff and three-dimensional. The center of the front is decorated with a golden double C logo , and the brand logo is also engraved on the metal corners. The details are very exquisite.

The buckle of the bag also has a streamlined rectangular outline, finely engraved with the CHANEL logo, and is as exquisite as jewelry in both feel and gloss.

The shoulder strap is made of CHANEL's most classic chain and leather woven material, which echoes the rattan leather mix and match design of the bag body. It is equipped with a leather shoulder pad on the top to enhance the comfort when carrying it crossbody or on the shoulder.

What can this bag hold?

The lining of the bag is also made of light gold calfskin , which has a gorgeous pearlescent texture. The side is a spliced accordion structure with a certain degree of ductility.

There is a flat inner pocket on the front, which can be used to store cards, receipts and other small items. We put an iPhone X, a box of air cushion powder, a card holder, a lip gloss and a small bottle of perfume in the bag.
