The TROUPE tote bag is a new bag model launched by Coach in the autumn and winter of 2019. It is inspired by the Frame Bag of the 1990s . A magnetic top frame structure is added to the opening and closing of the tote bag, and it is matched with the iconic Turnlock metal turnlock and arched handles. The lines are smooth and crisp, and the spacious storage space is especially suitable as a commuter bag.

Design inspiration

The TROUPE Tote made its debut at the Coach 2019 Fall/Winter show. Designed by creative director Stuart Vevers , it was inspired by the vintage Frame Bag from the 1990s and incorporates a frame structure into the Tote bag, which improves safety while also making the bag more upright and stylish.

· Magnetic top frame & Turnlock ·

The magnetic top frame structure at the opening of the bag is the biggest design highlight of this bag, which makes the simple and casual Tote bag shape become straight and stylish, and looks more formal. The top leather has a built-in magnetic strip , and when the front and back pieces of the bag are brought together, you can feel the obvious suction, and the bag can be closed automatically by just lifting the handle.

Similar frame structures can often be seen in Coach Vintage bags. The biggest advantage is that the bag can always maintain a full and upright silhouette.

The Turnlock in the center of the top frame serves as a double insurance and is also a very recognizable decorative element. It can be traced back to the 1960s and was designed by the brand's first designer Bonnie Cashin and has been used to this day.

The Turnlock on this bag also incorporates a chain design. The hollow brass chain ring structure makes the lock appear much lighter visually and also brings a touch of retro rebellious atmosphere.

· Signature canvas & leather paneling·

The canvas and leather stitching design makes this bag clearly layered, with the color tone decreasing from the outside to the inside, visually more contracted. The overall body of the bag is an inverted trapezoidal structure that is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, and the side wings naturally gather to form a smooth triangle. The central canvas is exactly the opposite of the bag body silhouette, adopting a regular trapezoidal structure that is narrow at the top and wide at the bottom.

The bottom of the bag is spliced with black leather pieces and inlaid with 4 metal feet , making the bottom more flat and firm, balancing the bag and providing protection.

The Signature C canvas was born in the late 1990s and was designed by former creative director Reed Krakoff . The crescent-shaped C letter is reversed and combined to form a unique pattern that looks like petals and butterflies. The dark and light khaki colors are retro and not easily outdated.

The stitching of the bag is all made of tan open stitching , which has a very strong sense of lines. The smooth and delicate lines also require high craftsmanship.

The tag is an essential element on every Coach bag and is also one of the brand's original anti-counterfeiting designs.

In fact, the original meaning of the word Coach is "carriage" . In 1941, six leather craftsmen founded a family workshop in the 34th Street of Manhattan, New York, which became the starting point of the Coach brand. To this day, the exclusive carriage logo is still printed on the tag of each Coach 1941 series bag .

· How do I carry this bag? ·

The bag adopts a rounded double handle design with a handle height of 12.5cm, which makes the bag look slimmer visually. The rounded and full handles are comfortable to hold. With the spacious storage space, it is very friendly to commuters.

In addition, it is equipped with a detachable and adjustable leather shoulder strap to meet the needs of crossbody and shoulder carrying. The top of the shoulder strap is equipped with a leather gasket , which is also very considerate in details.

What can this bag hold?

As a tote bag, the Coach Troupe Tote's most prominent advantage is still its practical storage properties. The bag is lined with burgundy suede , and the back zippered inner pocket is used to store small personal items.

We put an iPad Mini, an iPhone X, a wallet, a pencil case, a pair of sunglasses, a makeup mirror, perfume, lipstick, a jewelry box and other items in the bag, which only took up about half of the space. Canvas material also has certain advantages in weight, and it is relatively light in weight among bags of the same size.
