Suna Fujita Ceramics Studio
LOEWE 2023 Holiday Collection collaborates with Kyoto ceramic studio Suna Fujita. The new series reproduces the interesting creatures and dreamy landscapes drawn by the artist on handbags and accessories, using imagination to cast a childlike magic.Suna Fujita Ceramic Studio was founded in 2005 by Japanese ceramic artist couple Shohei Fujita and Chisato Yamano. It is located in the countryside of Kyoto. The ceramic works of the two draw inspiration from natural landscapes, childhood memories, dreams, and life with their son and dog . They are like three-dimensional storybooks engraved on ceramic products such as teapots, cups, and plates.
· Leather inlay ·
The bag uses the oriental "Bottle Green" as the background, and uses leather inlay and hand-painted techniques to depict the mischievous giant panda and bamboo patterns on the bag. The interesting scenes make people smile.

LOEWE, which pays attention to craftsmanship, does not simply print patterns on bags, but embeds the patterns into the bag body through leather marquetry and hand-sews the edges to create a three-dimensional, vivid and layered visual effect.

LOEWE has been using leather inlay technology to make handbags since 2016. First, leathers of different colors and textures are cut into the required pattern pieces by laser, and then assembled by craftsmen. The whole process is like assembling a puzzle. It is also necessary to ensure that the thickness of each piece of leather is the same, so that the inlaid pattern is flat and fits well.

There are also many surprises when you open the bag. The giant pandas in various poses roll arrogantly on the canvas lining, which is so cute. There are also special edition Suna and butterfly print leather labels from the cooperation series.

· Puzzle handbags ·
The Puzzle bag is the first bag designed by LOEWE's creative director Jonathan Anderson after he took office . It debuted at the 2015 Spring/Summer Men's Fashion Show. This bag is inspired by jigsaw puzzle blocks . Through exquisite leather craftsmanship, the flat geometric leather is pieced together into a three-dimensional bag shape. It not only retains LOEWE's craftsmanship heritage, but also injects avant-garde aesthetic concepts, achieving a balance between fun and functionality.Jonathan Anderson

I tried to find a new way to make bags, to fundamentally dismantle their structure, that is, to deconstruct the traditional bag and create a flat object with three-dimensional functions.

Each Puzzle handbag is assembled from more than 90 parts . A whole piece of leather must be cut into precisely calculated irregular geometric shapes by hand or laser cutting . It goes through 524 processes including hand-painted oil edges, pasting, stitching, and shaping . Even a craftsman with 50 years of experience needs to spend at least 10 hours to finally get a puzzle-like appearance.
New
ClassicIt is also worth mentioning that the new version of the Puzzle handbag has been updated in terms of leather and stitching compared to the classic version - the bag is made of softer satin cowhide leather, and the double stitching on the edge of the seam has been changed to a cage-covered single-line stitching, with only one oil edge exposed . The edge of the bag no longer has obvious angular structures, as if it is made of a whole piece of leather folded and stitched, the overall configuration is more streamlined, and the weight of the bag is also correspondingly lighter .

Anagram logo

The bag's flap and hardware details are embossed with LOEWE's iconic Anagram logo , which was designed by Spanish artist Vicente Vela in 1970. Four cursive L letters are arranged in a square mirror pattern. The logo has been updated many times over the past 40 years. The current pattern was created in 2014 by Jonathan Anderson and French design company M/M Paris, with a simple and modern font.
