LOUIS VUITTON

Yayoi Kusama Collaboration Series

This Keepall 25 handbag is from the second chapter of the Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama collaboration series . It uses gray and black Monogram Eclipse Reverse coated canvas as the background, and uses silk screen technology to depict a polka-dot pumpkin portrait on the bag body , reinterpreting the symbol of warmth and optimism in Yayoi Kusama's eyes in fashion language.

Yayoi Kusama and Pumpkin

The pumpkin is one of the important themes throughout Yayoi Kusama's artistic career. Its "generous and simple image reveals spirituality and perseverance" and is regarded by the artist as a talisman. Over the past few decades, Kusama has used different ways to show the pumpkin's solid and secure form. In addition to painting and sculpture, she has also created many poems praising the spiritual qualities of the pumpkin.

I love pumpkins. They have been my spiritual home since childhood. The deep spirituality of pumpkins has always brought peace to the world and is a hymn to humanity. Such pumpkins bring peace of mind to me. - Yayoi Kusama, On Pumpkins, 2010

The pumpkin portrait on the bag is created through silk-screen printing . The front side is based on blue and green , while the back side is based on red, orange and yellow , presenting a contrast between cold and warm looks. One bag has two personalities, and you can switch between side A and side B according to your mood.

Keepall Bag Type

The Keepall handbag, which was born in 1930 , is Louis Vuitton's first soft travel bag . It was designed by Gaston Vuitton , the third-generation heir of the family , and catered to people's changing travel habits at the time with the concept of a flexible and lightweight "weekend bag".

Keepall, as the name suggests, is a "handbag that can hold everything" . The bag is made of soft material to create a duffle backpack shape. The single-layer large compartment can effectively reduce the weight and can be folded into a suitcase. It is also equipped with a detachable luggage tag, metal padlock, handle buckle and other thoughtful details, which fits the modern travel spirit of "go whenever you want" and the fast-paced lifestyle.

To this day, Keepall still maintains its original appearance, witnessing the classic eternity of its design under the baptism of time. In addition to travel bag sizes such as 60/55/50/45, the brand first released the Keepall 25 messenger bag at the 2021 Spring/Summer Men's Fashion Show , reinterpreting this classic handbag in a mini size of 25×15×11cm to integrate it into daily life scenes.

The bag is equipped with tubular double handles and a detachable and adjustable Bandoulière jacquard fabric shoulder strap , which can be carried by hand, on the shoulder, cross-body and other different styling methods. Petite girls can also easily control it.

Monogram Eclipse Reverse Canvas

The bag is made of Monogram Eclipse Reverse light grey coated canvas with elegant grey and black as the background, and is paired with Monogram Eclipse grey and black canvas trims and handles, which low-key sets off the colorful pumpkin pattern. The hardware is made of silver metal , and the cool tone matches the style of the black and grey coated canvas.

LV's classic Monogram coated canvas was originally a fabric covering the wooden surface of travel suitcases. It has the advantages of wear resistance, light weight, and excellent waterproof performance. Monogram Eclipse canvas debuted at the 2016 Fall/Winter Men's Fashion Show. It uses a dark and elegant gray-black base with a light gray monogram pattern. The reverse color Monogram Eclipse Reverse canvas was first launched in June 2020, providing more diverse options for the classic monogram pattern.

What can this bag hold?

The fabric lining is printed with a triangular mesh background pattern from Yayoi Kusama's "Pumpkin" series . The infinitely repeated network like a cell structure reflects Kusama's reflection on the concept of eternity - humans are just extremely small in the vast universe. The back of the bag is embellished with a pumpkin-shaped LOUIS VUITTON × Yayoi kusama 2023 silver-stamped leather label , indicating the limited edition nature of this bag.

The interior adopts the main compartment + inner patch pocket structure. We put iPhone, notebook, wallet, tissue, perfume, lipstick, keys and other items in the bag, and there is plenty of space. Moreover, the bag is extremely light, and with the wide shoulder strap, there is no obvious sense of weight on the upper body.
