The CELINE Triomphe series launched a new bag shape in the autumn and winter of 2020. It adopts a refined and slender envelope-style flap structure, which can be used as a clutch after removing the shoulder strap . The bag body returns to the natural color of calfskin, with a restrained tan setting off the light gold Triomphe buckle , and the white exposed stitching gives the bag a classic charm.

Design inspiration

The Triomphe handbag is one of the first masterpieces brought by creative director Hedi Slimane after he took over in 2018. It looks back to the retro "Triumph buckle" elements in the early days of CELINE in the 1970s , and also has the shadow of the previous classic bag, the Classic Box tofu bag.

Triomphe means "triumph" in French and is derived from the Arc de Triomphe in Paris . From the name to the design details, it is a revisit to the brand's history. In 1972, the founder, Ms. Céline Vipiana, was driving to the Arc de Triomphe when her car suddenly broke down. While waiting for rescue, she noticed the chain details around the square, and suddenly she was inspired to conceive the Chain Blason logo with two symmetrically connected C letters , which is also the prototype of the Triomphe logo.

From the Triomphe metal buckle in 2018, the Triomphe chain totem repeatedly used in ready-to-wear printing, to the Triomphe monogram canvas launched in 2019, after two years of refinement, this triumphal logo from the 1970s has become one of the most recognizable design elements of the new CELINE.

The polished and shiny Triomphe buckle is the only hardware decoration on the bag , like an embossed seal on a letter, adding a classical and solemn atmosphere to the bag. Press the spring buckles on both sides to open the bag cover, revealing a small TRIOMPHE hot stamped label on the lining.

· Topstitching and oiled edges

The shape of this Triomphe shoulder bag is closer to a WOC (wallet on chain) . The main body of the bag is made of a whole piece of rolled calfskin . It has no obvious edges and corners and feels comfortable to hold.

The two sides are spliced with calfskin borders of the same color , and the border lines are highlighted with white exposed stitching and black oiled edges , making the bag more layered and visually shrinking.

· Removable shoulder strap·

The bag comes with a detachable, adjustable brown calfskin shoulder strap , which can be used as a crossbody bag or shoulder bag to free your hands, and can also be used as a clutch after the shoulder strap is removed. The snaps that

connect the shoulder strap are hidden on the inside of the bag cover and are fixed by two leather loops to ensure that the shoulder strap will not slip back and forth.

The detachable shoulder strap can be rolled up and put directly into the bag, so you can change your style anytime and anywhere.

What can this bag hold?

The leather used for the bag is also very exquisite. The outer layer is stiff cowhide to ensure that the bag shape will not be deformed. The lining is lambskin, which feels softer and more delicate , and plays a buffering and protective role. The CELINE and MADE IN ITALY logos are embossed inside and outside the bag mouth.

The interior adopts a large compartment + flat inner pocket design to optimize the bag capacity in bags of the same size. We put a short wallet, a notebook, an iPhone X, lip gloss and a small perfume in the bag, which can easily store the daily items we often carry when going out.
